Where to find jobs for disabled people on the internet

Jobs and disability on the Internet go hand in hand through the many resources that the Internet offers to people with disabilities looking for a job. They can be private or official sources, but in all cases, they all propose the same thing: to help people with disabilities to find a job.

Let’s review what these resources are like and what we can expect to find in them. But before doing so, it is also important to take into account some basic aspects if you intend to carry out this type of job search.

Facts to consider about work and disability

The first thing to consider is obvious: the kind of work that can be done. Not all degrees of disability are suitable for all types of jobs.

Although specialized internet sites may offer all kinds of jobs depending on the degree of disability, this offer can be very segmented by sections. It is essential to be clear about what you are looking for or what you can handle.

Another aspect to consider is the compatibility of the benefits you get. Some subsidies or insurance compensation are related to the fact that you do not do any work or just a specific type of disability job.

It is essential to review the conditions of your subsidies or allowances to avoid any incompatibility that could harm you.

How to find a job on the internet if you have a disability

There is no single model for a disability job resource on the Internet. We can find a wide variety of options, both at nationally and internationally.

If we were to make a distinction between three main groups, they would be as follows:

  • Private offers: these are organizations or professionals who offer their specialized intermediation services to help people with disabilities find employment. In recent years, this proposal of specialized employment intermediation agencies has grown exponentially.
  • Public proposals: Public employment spaces, both local and governmental, set aside quotas (not equal in all cases) to favor jobs for people with disabilities. They are usually communicated through the same means through which public employment is usually communicated.
  • Non-profit entities: these are institutions or organizations whose objective is to promote the creation of employment for people with disabilities. They can be specific to a particular type of disability or they can be generalists. This model of job search for people with disabilities has also grown a lot in recent years.

It is very important to understand that, depending on the type of search and resource chosen, the conditions may be different. In the case of the private offer, commissions may vary, although they are not directly reflected on the worker, but may mean slightly lower salaries. However, at the same time, they offer a wider range of employment possibilities for disability jobs.

On the other hand, both public and non-profit employment may be less diverse, but in return, the offers tend to be more long-term and competitive, which is very interesting when it comes to disability and employment.
