Right from the start, we aim to make sure that your time with us is packed with valuable learning and development experiences. In October before your start date, we’ll also enroll you in our ‘buddy scheme’. One of our first-year trainees is assigned to support you during both the year before your start date and the first year of your training contract.
The first two weeks of your contract will be spent on the Professional Skills course, giving you a solid grounding in the basics. You’ll then enjoy an induction, meeting people from across the firm and learning more about life at Ince.
Trainees sit with four different partners for six months at a time throughout their training. Under close supervision, they are encouraged from an early stage to meet and visit clients, interview witnesses, liaise with counsel, deal with technical experts and handle opposing lawyers. They will quickly build up a portfolio of cases from a number of partners involved in a cross section of the firm's practice and will see their cases through from start to finish.
There are opportunities to spend seats in overseas offices. Trainees have been seconded to Dubai, Monaco, Hamburg, Piraeus and Shanghai. They will also attend in-house and external lectures, conferences and seminars on practical and legal topics.
In addition to the compulsory training to qualify as a solicitor, you’ll enjoy an extensive training programme – including client communication and document drafting as well as the more specialised subjects relating to our practice, such as shipping, insurance and energy work. You’re encouraged to attend the many in-house lectures that we arrange for trainees throughout the year. Throughout your training contract, you’ll benefit from regular feedback to support your development, both informally from partners when work is completed and through formal appraisals conducted by a partner and our dedicated trainee HR team.
Benefits include 25 days holiday, a pension scheme, health and life insurance and season ticket loans.
We will be accepting applications for our 2021/22 Training Contract until 10th July 2020.
