What we look for

We like our trainees to stand out from the crowd. We look for excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships both internally and externally. We would also like you to have a genuine interest in the future plans and direction of Foot Anstey.

It goes without saying that all of our trainees have an exceptional academic background with a 2:1 degree or above in either Law or non-law. On top of this, we will do everything we can to support your GDL/ LPC studies. We take into account your potential areas of law interest as well as your previous work experience, both legal and non-legal, and positions of responsibility, to ensure we get the full picture of you and your capabilities.

What you can expect

As one of our trainees you can expect regular, open communication with your supervisors comes as standard. You will get lots of exposure to different situations, clients and to people within the firm who will help you to develop your legal and commercial expertise, in an environment that is friendly and supportive. We aim to recruit talented future Solicitors and to create an environment that will give you the opportunity to reach your full potential.

Our training contracts are firm-wide and you will be expected to undertake at least one seat in a different office.  One of the traits of a good solicitor is the ability to cross-sell and this multi-office approach allows you to build a strong foundation for when you qualify.  Furthermore, we are looking to develop you into a business adviser within one of our six key sectors and it is vital you have a breadth and depth of experience in order to achieve this.  Working across teams and offices will ensure you are successful.

The recruitment process

The deadline for training contracts is 1 June 2020.  Within two weeks of the respective deadlines, you will receive an update. After your application has been reviewed, if successful you will be invited to attend a Skype interview. If you have demonstrated the potential we require you will then be invited to an assessment day.

We will hold a series of assessment days in early July 2020.
