Consequently, we thought it would be rude not to tell you our own heart-breaking and inspiring story of triumph in the face of adversity.
Get ready for a rags-to-riches tale full of gut-wrenching anecdotes. You’ll gasp, you’ll cry, you’ll fall off a bridge because you’re laughing so hard! This is our story. Enjoy!
We thought we’d get things kick started by firstly telling you what AllAboutCareers is really all about!
To put it simply, AllAboutCareers is a social careers information website aimed at students aged 16-24. The whole idea for launching this website stemmed from our own frustration with the careers information that we found when we were trying to choose a career for ourselves.
AllAboutCareers is for everyone. This is not an elitist website aimed purely at graduates and university students. Sure, we do have tons of information about graduate careers, degrees, internships and university life, but we also have loads of articles for people that choose not to take the university route.
You can find out about apprenticeships, further education courses and all kinds of jobs which you don’t need a degree for. Anyone and everyone is welcome!
Essentially, it doesn’t matter who you are or what path you choose to take, we want every single student using AllAboutCareers to be inspired, stay informed and get connected.
The overriding principle of AllAboutCareers is that choosing a career shouldn’t be confusing and tedious. Careers information should be informative, authoritative, insightful, thought-provoking and entertaining, but, most of all, the process of obtaining that information should be quick, easy and hassle-free
If you create a career profile, you won’t have to wade through tons and tons of information that isn’t relevant to your particular interests. You can tell us exactly what interests you and your customised Noticeboard will do the rest. It’s a dynamic careers information tool that feeds all the relevant information, articles, blogs, messages, industry news, forum threads, events information and application deadline alerts straight into your very own profile.

Well, I guess now you’re wondering how this all came about. Get ready for the life story part! Are you sitting comfortably? Then I’ll begin…
Like all good stories, the AllAboutCareers journey started with a charming childhood relationship. Paul Harris and Jack Denton (Co-Founders) have actually known each other since the tender age of five. They went to primary school, high school and sixth form together, before going their separate ways for university. I’m not going to say that they’re childhood sweethearts, but they’re certainly a great double act, much like Morecambe and Wise, Shearer and Sheringham or Bert and Ernie.
After they both graduated, their quest to become the latest legal hotshots hit an abrupt stop when they discovered the absolute dearth of careers information out there for aspiring lawyers. Cue several months of scribbling, debating and deliberating before the idea of AllAboutCareers was born. AllAboutLaw would be their first project; their protégé, their pioneer. The plan was to create a website that genuinely helped students on their journey from high school to employment. Once they got to a point where tons of students and graduate recruiters were using AllAboutLaw, they decided to take the plunge and expand to all other careers.
The Roman Empire was not built by two people in a matter of days. Neither was AllAboutCareers. Enter Jack Collins (Editor) and Oliver Vörös (PHP Developer). These two professional whizz kids were welcomed into the AllAboutCareers clan with open arms; and since September 2010 the team has been working tirelessly to bring you the best possible careers information website.
We understand that all the careers information on this site needs to be authoritative, accurate and informative. Consequently, we have been working alongside a whole host of careers advisors, occupational psychologists and industry professionals to make sure our content is the very best it can be. These guys constitute our expert editorial board and they will continue to guide us as we expand the website and produce more and more articles.
