The delivery of legal services is changing. This doesn’t just involve the emergence of new technology, it involves the increasingly crucial role played by other technical disciplines in providing more complex and sophisticated client solutions, and optimising our performance as a business.
We have launched a business and legal operations graduate scheme, with the first roles beginning on 4 March 2019. This is a unique law firm graduate scheme that encompasses every aspect of the rapid changes currently underway in the delivery of high end legal services.
This two year programme will mirror our traditional training contract for new lawyers, but with a focus on different disciplines. Those who progress to full time roles are expected to drive our business strategy in the years to come.
The scheme sits within Norton Rose Fulbright Transform, our global change and innovation program. The scheme will be overseen jointly by our Commercial Director and Innovation Director.
The scheme is built around four six-month rotations through the following teams:
Business Solutions - building bespoke solutions to complex client or industry legal needs
Commercial Management - assessing commercial opportunities in a changing market, and selling our new offerings
Innovation - reviewing new tools and ideas for the delivery of legal work
Legal Project Management - managing our efficient and effective delivery of matters and projects
Pricing - designing pricing solutions for our clients
Resource Management - optimising our skills deployment across the firm
While Business & Legal Operations Trainees will always be within one of these teams, they will be assigned work flexibly and work in multi-disciplinary groups across all teams.
All rotations will be based in our London office, except for rotations through the Innovation Team, which is based in our Newcastle Hub. Innovation is at the heart of our Newcastle Hub, which was set up to give the firm space to trial new technology and ways of working. The role may also involve shorter placements in one of our 50+ other offices, globally. Accommodation costs will be met for placements outside of London during the scheme.
Those gaining places on the scheme will be given extensive support and expected to perform at a high level. Graduates successfully completing the two year scheme will be offered permanent roles. The scheme does not lead to a legal qualification.
In the first intake, up to two roles will be available on 4 March 2019, and four more roles will be available starting on 2 September 2019. After that, intakes will begin annually in September.
Starting salary: £38,000
Application deadline for 4 March 2019 start: 14 January 2019 (Applicants should be available for assessment the week commencing 28 January 2019)
Application deadline for 2 September 2019 start: 15 February 2019 (Applicants for the 2 September 2019 start should be available for assessment, week commencing 11 March 2019)
