Our graduate programme (training contract) is two years in duration, commencing with a week-long international graduate induction in the firm's London office. The induction programme will give you the opportunity to hear from the firm's senior leaders, to participate in professional skills training, to attend networking events with your colleagues from across the globe and participate in responsible business activities.

You will complete four six-month seats and will be given the opportunity to express the areas of law you would like to experience during your graduate programme. We are also committed to supporting our people's desire to experience working life in other parts of the world. We believe our secondment programme fosters a global mind-set and is critical to our success. We provide the opportunity to all of our graduates to apply for a six monthoverseas or client secondment.

As a graduate, your role be dynamic and varied. The individual tasks that you will undertake are largely dictated by the practice group you are working in during each seat, but typical tasks will include:

·     Drafting various legal documents and contracts

·     Advising on pre-trial procedures and assisting with case preparation

·     Dictating correspondence

·     Involvement in and preparation of client presentations

·     Attending client meetings and note taking

·     Managing own files, including regular client contact

·     Interviewing and advising

·     Undertaking legal research

·     Negotiating suitable outcomes for a client

·     Assisting fee earners with projects and providing support to the wider team

·     Prior to commencing the graduate programme (training contract), you must have, or be in the process of completing the following:

- An England & Wales qualifying law degree, or

- A Scotland qualifying law degree, or

- A non-law degree followed by the Graduate Diploma in Law

·     You must then be available to complete the Legal Practice Course  / Diploma in Legal Practice as of September 2019

·     Able to demonstrate strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail

·     Able to demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills

·     Strong interest in Law and DLA piper, either through previous experiences and/or through external research

·     Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workloads
