We are currently seeking Apprentices to join us in August 2019. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with one of the world’s most prestigious and technologically advanced car manufacturers and a major international company that is proud of its investment in people.
BMW UK Manufacturing Ltd is a modern, high volume and complex manufacturing Plant and is the birthplace and heart of MINI production.
Our vehicles are packed with the latest technology, and ensuring the very best quality and customer satisfaction is the goal of our highly skilled and motivated production team. The Motor vehicle technician is a vital link in the production chain.
Training will take place in our state-of-the–art BMW academy based in Wokefield Park on block release, including hybrid and electric vehicles, and production techniques which are constantly developing in line with new technologies. You will need to possess the physical dexterity to carry out precise work with small components and the mental ability to handle complex data calculations, of all types, rapidly and with accuracy.
When it comes to selecting the right people to become apprentices, it’s as much about attitude and behaviours as it is about vocational and academic success. That is why in addition to the qualifications we require from you, we’ll also look for you to have a range of skills, attributes and behaviours. These include: teamworking, as well being able to work without close supervision; good communication skills; enthusiasm and initiative; and the ability to think logically.

Apprenticeship Programme & Career Development :
BMW offers an enhanced level 3 apprenticeship in comparison to others in the industry. The three year programme is designed to enable you to experience different aspects of the vehicle and the business.
Motor Vehicle technicians will complete a broad spectrum of placements throughout the business in the UK and also placements within the dealership network. Placements cover many aspects of the business such as:
• Manufacturing (Both electrical; 12v and high voltage and mechanical).
• Continuous improvement.
• Specific technical training.
• Software integration (Both vehicle and computer systems).
• Vehicle analysis.
• Problem solving.
• Vehicle validation.
• Supporting the UK MINI Dealer network.
The placements give you the chance to experience the business as a whole whilst carrying out business relevant projects alongside your study. You will have the opportunity to take advantage of the benefits of working for a world-class global automotive manufacturer, networking with people of different nationalities and put theory directly into practice.
As well as developing your specialist technical knowledge you will be expected to successfully complete qualifications specifically related to your apprenticeship.

A minimum of 5 GCSE’S (or equivilant) at level 5/C (or above) including Maths, English and Science. Physics would be an advantage.

Rate of Pay:
A competitive salary enhanced annually depending on individual progress and performance starting at circa £13,000 per annum rising to over £25,000 over the programme.
Company car scheme eligibility to those 18 years and over, plus other benefits including an on-site gym, pension scheme, generous holiday allowance and a subsidised on-site restaurant.
37 hour working week, start and finish times will vary according to work based placements and college hours.
