As part of a select and high calibre intake, trainees work alongside our partners dealing directly with clients right from the start. There's plenty of responsibility but this is matched by an extremely supportive and friendly culture.

During the two year training contract, trainees undertake a mixture of 3 and 6 month seats within our core departments and also have the opportunity to go on secondment to our key clients. We also guarantee trainees a seat in our IP Litigation department.
The minimum requirement for training contract applications is for a 2:1 degree in any discipline, but given the rigours of an IP practice, outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements are the norm, rather than an exception.
The firm places importance on having a diverse and inclusive culture and as such welcomes applications from all disciplines and universities, with the current trainees having degrees ranging from History and Politics, to Physics and Biochemistry. However due to the nature of our client base, many of our solicitors come from backgrounds where they’ve earned degrees in science, technology and other technical disciplines.
Whatever a candidate's background, the firm assess each application on individual merit and intellectual and commercial acumen, excellent communication skills, attention to detail and enthusiasm for hard work, and analytical and creative thinking; team spirit and a passion for challenges and success are prized qualities.
We conduct two rounds of interviews each year, one in February and one in August. To be considered for the February round please apply by 31st January and for the August round apply by 31st July 2018. Both rounds are open to final year undergraduates and graduates. Penultimate year law students should apply in the summer round only.
