Our new 18 month Sludge Technician Apprenticeship programme will offer you the opportunity to learn what it takes to operate and optimise sludge (sewage) treatment centres and steam boilers to produce biogas and a biosolids product that can be recycled and sold to the agricultural market.
This is a fantastic role for you to use your mechanical skills to enhance sludge treatment, craft adjustments to the sludge digestion plant, feed rates and thickening belt. You will also be responsible for collecting and analysing sludge samples, collate data readings for safe boiler operation and monitor and record processes to ensure compliance with site permits. You’ll gain valuable experience and knowledge through a combination of classroom learning and on the job training to gain a nationally recognised qualification.
As a fully qualified Sludge Technician you will work within our Water Recycling Business Unit (sewage) on 7 day rotating shifts and be part of a team that works together to provide an important 24 hour service for our sludge treatment process. Working alongside our Recycling Environment Services (RES) tanker services, Contractors and Treatment Works Technicians, you will also demonstrate the flexibility and adaptability to assist other teams as required.
Following successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will be based at Great Billing Sewage Treatment Works, NN3 9BX or Cotton Valley Sewage Treatment Works MK15 9PA, although you will be required to travel to other sites. A driving licence is therefore essential for this role.
