What we do
Our service is delivered through firm-wide core groups: corporate and commercial, employment, family, insurance disputes, private client, projects and construction, real estate and regulatory, public and commercial disputes. Core sectors are automotive, charities and social enterprise, education, energy, food and agribusiness, government, health and care, insurance, life sciences, mid-market, private wealth, real estate investment, sport, technology.
Our award-winning summer vacation scheme is the ideal introduction to Mills & Reeve and gives you a real taste of life as a lawyer. During your time with us you will be placed in real-life situations, preparing draft documents, researching, attending court hearings and meeting clients.
You will work with a variety of lawyers around the business over the course of two weeks, changing teams every two to three days. You will be paired with one of our current trainees who will answer your day-to-day questions and help you make the most of your experience. Presentations and a selection of social events will allow you to appreciate our culture.
We offer two weeks' work experience at one of our offices in Birmingham, Cambridge, Manchester (with the opportunity to spend time in our Leeds office) and Norwich.
This year, we will only be recruiting trainees through our vacation scheme and we are currently recruiting for our 2023 trainee cohort.
Who should apply?
We want people who are ready for early responsibility because that is what we will give you. You will be highly motivated with excellent interpersonal skills and commercial awareness. You will need high standards of academic achievement; to demonstrate maturity, use initiative and business acumen. You will enjoy untangling complicated issues and thrive on building relationships with clients and colleagues.

Shortlisting of application forms by HR and a team of lawyers.
Assessment centres held centrally in our London office, to include a group exercise. These are likely to be held over three days at the end of February 2021.
Interviews with Partners and senior lawyers held in our regional offices. These are likely to be held over two days at the beginning of March 2021.
Two-week vacation schemes in our Birmingham, Cambridge, Manchester (with some time spent in Leeds) and Norwich offices. These will be held on 21 June to 2 July 2020 (Birmingham and Cambridge) and 28 June to 9 July 2020 (Manchester and Norwich).
