What is a Hoist Fitter?
A professional, reliable and skill mechanical and electrical fitter able to self-manage, supervise and co-ordinate activities from Plant delivers, install to operational handover to our client's needs.
Carrying out satisfactory installs and repairs in accordance with the training and instructions received for Hoists. Carrying out pre-use visual checks, servicing and ensuring all work equipment is in good condition and suitable for purpose. Complying with all safe systems of work, permits and company maintenance procedures.
The Laing O'Rourke Apprenticeship programme - what can you expect?
This apprenticeship will provide the necessary skills to service, maintain and repair all model types of hoists. On-site and workshop training will be complemented by an extensive plant maintenance college apprenticeship programme that will lead to you becoming a competent hoist fitter.
As a Laing O'Rourke apprentice you will work through a structured programme that will take between two and four years depending on your apprenticeship choice. The programme will combine practical onsite experience and academic learning at college.
As part of the Apprenticeship programme, you will be expected to achieve a level 2 or 3 apprenticeship standard. You will attend college on either a block or day release format, depending on the college you are assigned to.
Your apprenticeship journey will be supported by experienced trades people and construction professionals that will work closely with you, providing regular feedback on your progress towards completing your apprenticeship. You will benefit from highly competitive rates of pay and will work on some of the most exciting projects in the UK.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for people with a genuine interest in construction and the built environment. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and ambitious, with the potential to progress to a supervisory / management role over a five-to-ten-year period.
