Let’s talk about what you’ll be doing…
Our Business Administrator Apprenticeship Scheme will give you experience in a wide range of organisational tasks. You’ll be responsible compiling analytical reports, tracking budgets and orders, organising travel and training for your team and ensuring our engineers have all the equipment they need to keep our customers happy. It’s not just about the detail, you’ll be communicating to your team, handling requests for information and having the smarts to spot a logistical issue and head it off before it ever happens!
The only certainty at Virgin Media is that change and growth are constant and that’s going to keep you busy! You’ll be responsible for your department’s personnel records as well as co-ordinating recruitment efforts, arranging interviews and corresponding with applicants.
You’ll be working at the heart of a team, interacting with everyone, guided by your scheme mentor and workmates as you help them in return. As part of the scheme, you’ll also gain valuable experience in areas such as cost reconciliation for financial reporting and GDPR requirements for confidential documents.
You’ll become a trusted and valued cog at the centre of your team with access to a lot of information, which will hopefully suit your love of organisation and getting things done just right, on time, every time.
How are you going to get there?
You’ll know if you have the natural skills of this role; reliability, integrity and self-motivation. We’ll help you develop the confidence to add other important skills, such as how to establish effective working relationships with others. You’ll be an influencer and a problem-solver and that means being able to gain people’s trust effectively.
Being a keyboard maestro will help, you’re going to need the speed of those shortcuts! You’ll be familiar with the Microsoft Office suite and you’ll soon pick up our internal software systems too.
You’ll need to interpret data, not just record it, as well as build the knowledge and confidence to know when something needs escalating to someone else in the team. That proactivity and initiative are key qualities for this role – as well as a few relevant qualifications.
