Who are we looking for?
You’re likely already in a very similar role and looking for the next stage in your development. So a Helpdesk Technician, First or Second Line Support, IT Infrastructure Technician or Network Support role. As such, your IT skills and knowledge will be outstanding.
Straight out of school or college? That’s fine too! We’re looking for team members with a keen passion for IT and experience using different technologies. Have you built a PC at home? Or support your family and friends with new devices? Those experiences are all relevant and show the skills we’re looking for in this role.
In addition, you’ll need five GCSEs including English, Maths and Science or a Technology subject. Not to mention a Level 2 Apprenticeship or similar in a relevant area of study or equivalent qualification or experience. Otherwise, you’ll need to be prepared to take an aptitude test with a focus on IT skills, which of course, you should fly through!
It’s a role for a great communicator, of course, as you’ll be dealing with a huge number of people and ensuring that their needs are met. So you’ll need to be as confident verbally as you are in writing and able to demonstrate empathy, sensitivity, calm and even resilience when necessary. An outstanding problem solver, you’ll be in your element when faced with a perplexing challenge and able to manage your workflow to accommodate lots at the same time. Plus, you’ll need proven understanding of IT security measures, remote infrastructure and data recording and analysis.
