General Open Day (14th, 21st, 24th September)

Our open days give you the perfect opportunity to get a taster of life with Baker McKenzie – and to get a feel for what a career in the field of law is like more generally. We want you to get a lot out of the day – including some new skills. It means you can expect to undertake some interactive workshops on everything from negotiation through to application skills. You’ll hear from lawyers in different practice groups and have opportunities to network, and really get a feel for the culture at Baker McKenzie.

Non-Law Open Day (19th October)

At Baker McKenzie, non-law graduates make up 49% of our trainee solicitor population. As a non-law student considering a career in the legal sector, you probably have some questions; how do I know law is right for me? Am I what the industry is looking for? Can I use my STEM or humanities degree as a solicitor? This Open Day will specifically answer these questions and help you recognise the particular strengths and abilities your degree gives you in a career as a lawyer. Hear from Baker McKenzie lawyers who did not study law at university, and how their degrees helped shape them into the lawyer they are today. The non-law open day includes interactive workshops, practice group overviews, application tips, and the opportunity to network with partners, associates, and trainee solicitors.

Black Lawyers and Allies Open Day (20th October)

Committed to increasing fairness at work for people of all ethnic backgrounds, this focused open day will enable you to hear from like-minded lawyers about their journeys and why they chose to work for Baker McKenzie. They will share the firm initiatives on what we are doing to increase diversity in the legal industry. This open day includes interactive workshops, practice group overviews, application tips, and the opportunity to network with partners, associates, and trainee solicitors.

LGBT+ Open Day (23rd November)

Research has shown that members of the LGBT+ community who feel they have to hide their identities at work suffer disproportionally from stress and dissatisfaction in their careers.

At Baker McKenzie we are passionate about everyone being their authentic self at work. At this Open Day you’ll hear from LGBT+ lawyers at Baker McKenzie and learn about their personal stories, and have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. The Open Day will include interactive workshops, practice group overviews, application tips, and networking opportunities with partners, associates, and trainee solicitors. Following the open day we want you to feel confident about submitting applications for Training Contracts and to have an understanding of the support provided throughout your journey.

Opportunity Open Day (Social Mobility) (27th October)

It is a known fact that individuals from lower socioeconomic backgrounds often face many barriers when entering a career in law. Ranked 5th, and the highest ranking in law in the Social Mobilty Index, we are committed to breaking down these barriers. Our Opportunity Open Day is focused on increasing awareness, and providing confidence for those from low income families, state school comprehensives and first generation university students considering a career in law. You will hear from Lawyers who are passionate about social mobility and their journey. In addition, the open day includes interactive workshops, practice group overviews, application tips, and the opportunity to network with partners, associates, and trainee solicitors.

Women + Open Day (26th November)

Named as Best International Law Firm for Women three years in a row, Baker McKenzie are committed to championing women in the workplace. However, this event is not just focused on women. The event focuses on equality in the workplace, regardless of gender. You will hear more about our global targets of 40% women, 40% men and 20% flexible (women, men or non-binary persons) by July 2025. In addition to interactive workshops, practice group overviews, application tips, and the opportunity to network with partners, associates, and trainee solicitors

Employability Open Day (Mental Wellbeing and Disability) (30th November)

Research shows that those who have disabilities and/or long term health conditions are reluctant to be open about their disability when applying for Graduate roles. Our Employability open day will focus on how you can overcome fears of discrimination, apply for our opportunities and understand how to showcase your skills with the support you need. There will be a dedicated session on wellbeing along with interactive workshops, practice group overviews, application tips, and the opportunity to network with partners, associates, and trainee solicitors.

First Year Open Day (3rd December)

It’s never too early to start considering different law firms and where you potentially see yourself starting your Training Contract. Our First Year Open Day is the perfect opportunity to gain an initial insight into how a big, global law firm like ours operates, the sort of projects we work on, and the clients we work with. The day includes interactive workshops, practice group overviews, application tips, and the opportunity to network with partners, associates, and trainee solicitors.

The First Year Open Day is a valuable opportunity to introduce yourself to the firm and, through application workshops and gaining and in depth understanding of the firm's culture, improve your chances of securing a place on the First Year Insight Scheme or Vacation Scheme.
