O’Melveny is a leading international law firm with approximately 750 lawyers practising in 15 offices in the key US, Asian and European economic and political centres. Globally, O’Melveny’s capabilities span virtually every area of legal practice. The London office has both a transactions department - which advises on private equity, corporate finance, M&A and investment funds matters - as well as an international litigation department, with antitrust and competition services support provided through the Brussels office. London also has the key transactional support functions which are essential to a leading corporate practice, such as tax and regulatory.
The London office is known for its entrepreneurial leadership and commitment to excellence, both of which underpin its approach to recruitment. Each year a number of our partners and senior counsel are recognised in the Chambers UK guide as leaders in their practice areas.

We believe our trainees are the future of our London office, and we’ve invested in that future by developing a training programme that is designed to turn you into a leading practising lawyer.
We tailor our training programme to you – to advance your legal knowledge, practice skills, and confidence – and we use a wide variety of workshops, seminars, and case studies to help you succeed.
In addition, all of our lawyers are given training to develop skills in areas such as presenting and networking. As a trainee you are given the opportunity to contribute to internal and external legal briefings and to attend external courses and presentations that are of particular interest to you. Trainees work in a very supportive and inclusive environment, with regular formal and informal feedback.
Individual preferences can usually be taken into account when tailoring the London training programme, subject to completing the core competencies. Trainees complete seats with partners or senior lawyers usually in each of the corporate, finance, funds and litigation practices. O’Melveny trainees are also regularly seconded overseas to the Hong Kong and Brussels offices. They are encouraged to be proactive and take responsibility at an early stage.
We place great importance on training lawyers at all levels, so at O’Melveny training doesn’t stop at the end of your training contract. Many of our lawyers are leaders in their fields, and we invest heavily in training to keep them there.

Sound commercial awareness and an appreciation of the context in which we and our clients operate are also essential.
We welcome applications from both law and non-law students, as well as from graduates in different stages of studies or career levels.
Interviews are conducted at our London office. Candidates will have an interview with two partners, one of whom will be the graduate recruitment partner. In advance of the interview, we will also ask each candidate to prepare a short piece of work to be presented to two attorneys on the day of the interview. Candidates may also be asked to complete an independent online aptitude test.
