We offer two fantastic placement opportunities a 12-month University placement and a 12-week summer internship program with roles in: business operations, finance, human resources, marketing, software development and technology.
A 12-month University placement at IBM is hard to top. First and foremost, it gets you a global leader’s name on your CV. It’s also a year filled with challenges that’ll stretch you, exposure that will kick start your professional
career – and along the way you’ll meet truly inspirational people. We offer a variety of placement opportunities for students with a keen eye for technology: Business, Finance, Human Resources, Technology and Marketing. At IBM we’re successful because we push ourselves hard – and it probably will seem daunting at first. But, if you’re insatiably curious, passionate about innovation and eager to get into the world of big business, there’s nothing like it.
Ever fancied running your own business? OurExtreme Blue internship students do exactly that. You’ll work in a small team of students to tackle a real business problem. Your task? Develop an idea to solve – one that no one else has thought of – and then, turn that idea into a real product. When the 12 weeks are up, you’ll showcase it to our executives, business partners and clients. Expectations will be high and the results will be scrutinised closely. So, it’s not an easy ride – but we guarantee it’ll be an incredible experience
University isn’t for everyone and here at IBM we have a fantastic alternative. Apprenticeships at IBM are all about picking up new skills and lots of them. Its three years of brilliant training, loads of exposure and an experience you simply couldn’t get anywhere else. If you’ve decided to dive straight into the world of work after college we believe our apprenticeship is one of the best learning experience out there and from the moment you start you’re hired as a permanent employee.
We offer apprenticeships in three areas; Cyber Security, Business and Technical. So whatever your skill set we’ll have a role to suit you.
School Leaver Programmes
If you’re looking to take a year out before University, look no further than the IBM Gap Year program. It’s an invaluable opportunity to work with a world-leading company, broaden your horizons and give will you a head start in your career. It will be a challenging and fun year which will give you twelve months to start building the future you want and help you to maximise employability after you graduate.
On the gap year programme you’ll be deployed straight into a professional role, where you’ll support and learn from experienced professionals from across IBM. That could be in any area across the company from business to technology. Then, at the end of the placement, it’s in your hands. If you would like to consider IBM as a long term career then you could apply for our Apprenticeship scheme, or you could go off to university and consider IBM's Graduate Programme in a few years’ time.
Salary & Benefits
Graduate Schemes: £30,000-£37,000
Industrial Placement & Summer Internship: £15,000 + £1,000 signing bonus and a £3,000 London Allowance.
To be eligible to apply, you must have at least 5 GCSE’s at grade C or above including Maths and English and either have obtained or be predicted at least 160 UCAS points from A-levels or equivalent. You must also be authorised to work in the UK.
