Barnardo’s is the biggest children’s charity in the UK. Working with over 190,000 children each year, the charity runs projects and campaigns to help change the lives of young people who are affected by social problems, such as poverty, disability, homelessness, domestic violence, substance misuse and sexual abuse.
Barnardo’s offers a range of volunteer internships for young people who want to make a real difference. These opportunities are available across the UK. If your application for the internship scheme is successful, you could find yourself working at Barnardo’s Head Office in Greater London, at one of the charity’s regional offices, or in one of Barnardo’s many retail outlets.
Barnardo’s does not currently offer a graduate scheme.
Internships & Placements
Voluntary internships at Barnardo’s last for 12 weeks. During these three months, you will be given a unique opportunity to gain work experience, develop new skills and make a valuable contribution to the charity. All volunteers are given genuine responsibility and work on projects that they can really get their teeth into.
Volunteers join one of Barnardo’s core departments, such as Marketing and Communications, Corporate Resources or Children’s Services Operations. Alternatively, you can join the Barnardo’s retail team and work in one of the charity’s retail outlets, which are located across the country.
Both full-time and part-time opportunities are available.
Barnardo’s offers Apprenticeships as and when suitable roles in areas such as Retail, Information Technology and Business Administration.
Please keep an eye on our current vacancies page as well as the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) website where all our apprenticeships are advertised.
