Vacation Scheme Deadlines 2012
Getting on a vacation scheme provides a great
insight into working as a solicitor and many of the top firms will
expect candidates to have at least one on their CV.
It is also a good time of year to update your
CV. You will find that your Careers Service will conduct CV workshops
from time to time, but in case you don't have time we have a selection
of tips from the Careers Advisory Service at Coventry University.
Remember recruiters
are busy people, so keep the applications succinct and easy
to read, you have to remember to sell
yourself throughout the application. Online applications can
be boring but you are just one of hundreds that have been through
the same system so listen
to what they have to say and don't
try too hard!
A large number of vacation schemes are based on
London, though not all by any means and they all will pay you so
that should cover any travel/accommodation costs.
Some vac schemes are for second year law students
and final year non-law students, but many offer these schemes for
all.
Though we try to be as accurate as possible it
is always best to check with individual firm websites as deadlines
do sometimes close early/change.
Finally, Slaughter
and May stop accepting applications on Friday 16th December!
Good Luck!
