Weird interview questions...

From the Interviews Forum

I've heard sometimes firms will ask you really odd questions like - how many people in the UK have blue eyes. Basically, (so I have heard) they don't care if you know, as clearly not many people will know, but rather they are interested in seeing how you got to your answer. Can anyone verify these types of questions please?

I have heard that type of thing before. It is one thing being able to remember things, but it is another being able apply yourself and I guess these types of questions allow you to do that.

Yer, I've heard that. Cognitive ability is a great indicator of a persons overall intelligence and questions like that show how your brain works (or doesn't work - depending on what you say!).

I know this one is probably closed now but for people who look in the future, weird interview questions are very interesting. Yes, crazy abstract questions like 'what fruit would you be?' and 'why shouldn't we hire you?', 'talk for 5 minutes on any topic' etc still exist and particularly at companies like Google and Facebook who want out of the box thinking still like these. Have a look at this article for job interview questions to prepare for.
