White & Case is looking to recruit ambitious trainees who have an interest in working on big-ticket, cross-border work. They should have an understanding of international commercial issues and have a desire to be involved in high profile, cross-border legal matters. They should have a positive and friendly attitude, be enthusiastic and work well in teams.
We recruit both law and non-law students and owing to the nature of our international work, students with languages are of interest.
These qualities are important, however applicants will be welcomed for their individuality, their ability to contribute to the cutting-edge work we do and the energy with which they approach the job at hand.
Trainees undertake four six-month seats, one of which is guaranteed to be spent in one of our offices abroad.
Practice areas where trainees can spend a seat include: banking, capital markets; construction and engineering; corporate; employment and benefits; energy, infrastructure, project and asset finance; financial restructuring & insolvency; intellectual property, litigation/arbitration; real estate and tax. Receiving a high level of partner and senior associate contact from day one, trainees can be confident that they will receive high quality, stimulating and rewarding work. Trainees are encouraged to take early responsibility and there is a strong emphasis on practical hands-on training, with plenty of support and feedback. White & Case recruits and develops trainee solicitors with the aim of retaining them on qualification.

Internships & Placements
Places for 2017: 25 places available on one two-week spring placement and 60 places available across our two summer placements. Remuneration: £350 per week; Closing Date: 31 January 2016
We offer a two-week work experience over the Easter holidays and two, two-week placements during June & July. The aim of our placements is to allow candidates the opportunity to gain experience of how a global law firm operates and to introduce them to the type of work our lawyers are involved in on a day-to-day basis. Candidates are invited to attend a number of informal presentations and group exercises as well as some fantastic social events.

Salary & Benefits
Our trainees start at a salary of £44,000 rising to £48,000 in the second yea. As a newly qualified lawyer you can expect a salary of £70,000.
The firm will cover your GDL and LPC fees with a £7,500 maintenance grant for each course.
The firm operates a flexible benefits scheme, through which you can select the benefits you wish to receive, such a private medical insurance, dental insurance, group income protection, life assurance, pension, critical illness insurance, travel insurance, retail vouchers and gym membership.
