Trainees are an integral part of White & Case LLP and we take great interest in developing their potential. Following a comprehensive induction programme, trainees undertake four seats, each of six months in duration.
To gain a greater understanding of our global network, our trainees are guaranteed to spend a seat in one of our overseas offices. Regardless of which office trainees are working in, they will be closely supervised by a senior associate or partner who will involve them from day one and ensure they receive high-quality, stimulating and rewarding work. We encourage trainees to take early responsibility and place an emphasis on providing practical hands-on training, together with plenty of support and feedback.
Internships & Placements
The best way to get first-hand experience as a White & Case trainee is through our vacation placements. We run two-week placements during the Easter break and over the summer.
Vacation schemes provide a great opportunity to get involved in the life and work of the London office. During the placement, you’ll work alongside an associate, helping them with their work. It’s also a chance to talk informally with Partners and Associates about White & Case, and learn more about the structure of our training contract. There will also be more formal training sessions and workshops, as well as plenty of opportunities to ask questions of partners, associates and trainees at social events.
This year, our vacation scheme participants went to the London Stock Exchange to hear how the City works, had drinks with Partners and learnt to make (and eat!) pasta and chocolate tort with current trainees at a Cookery School.
White & Case do not offer apprenticeship schemes.
School Leaver Programmes
Salary & Benefits
Our trainees start at a salary of £43,000 rising to £46,000 in the second yea. As a newly qualified lawyer you can expect a salary of £75,000.
The firm will cover your GDL and LPC fees with a £7000 maintenance grant for each course.
The firm operates a flexible benefits scheme, through which you can select the benefits you wish to receive, such a private medical insurance, dental insurance, group income protection, life assurance, pension, critical illness insurance, travel insurance, retail vouchers and gym membership.
Applicants must have obtained or be expecting a high 2.1 or above at Undergraduate level and have a strong academic record prior to this.
