What we are looking for

White & Case is looking to recruit ambitious trainees who have a desire to gain hands-on practical experience from day one. They should have achieved, or be on track to achieve, a high 2:1.

Vacation schemes – Spring & Summer 2016

We offer participants a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience of how a global law firm operates and to introduce them to the type of work our lawyers are involved in on a day-to-day basis. Throughout the scheme, there are a   number of informal presentations, a group exercise and a research-based task to complete. Participants will receive continued support and feedback from their supervisor and the Graduate Resourcing team. There will also be some fantastic social events.

Training contracts – September 2018 & March 2019

The training contract consists of four six-month seats, one of which will be in Finance and another of which will be guaranteed to be overseas. This could be in one of our following offices: Paris, Hong Kong, New York, Tokyo, Johannesburg, Abu Dhabi, Frankfurt, Dubai, Singapore, Moscow, Istanbul, Prague and Beijing. The remaining two seats can be spent in any one of the firm’s practice groups in London.

Receiving a high level of partner and senior associate contact from day one, our trainees can be confident that they will receive high-quality, stimulating and rewarding work. We actively encourage our trainees to take early responsibility and there is a strong emphasis on practical training, with plenty of support and feedback. Alongside the training contract, our trainees are encouraged to get involved in all aspects of our globally-renowned pro bono programme, often working directly with clients and even managing small matters.

If you are interested in finding out more, why not attend one of our open days?

We will be holding a number of open days throughout the year. The purpose of our open days is to provide participants with a useful insight into the Firm and the training we offer.

During our open days in November and January (targeted at penultimate year students, finalists and graduates,) there will be an introduction to our business and an opportunity to hear about the role of a trainee from some of our current intake. Participants will be able to chat with members of the Firm over lunch before receiving practical tips on applications and interviews, and having the opportunity to put their decision –making skills to the test in an interactive business-game. The day will finish will another opportunity to speak with a variety of people about life at White & Case over drinks.

In May we hold an open day specifically for 1st year students. The day is designed to help introduce participants to the many areas of law, the different types of Firms and help confirm or dispel any myths associated with becoming a lawyer. Participants will also receive useful guidance on ways in which they can begin to strengthen their future applications and have the opportunity to meet different members of the Firm informally over lunch and drinks.
