Standard Chartered headquartered in London at 1 Basinghall Avenue, is a leader in international banking with presence in over 70 countries and territories. It employs over 75,000 people in over 1700 branches across the world.

Nearly half of its employees are women. Out of 125 nationalities employed by the company, about 70 are part of the senior management team. The CEO and Chairman of the group are based in London.The banking business is segmented into five broad areas:

(a) Consumer Banking: aimed to meet the borrowing, wealth management and transaction needs of the individual covering savings and banking services, loans and mortgages, credit cards, insurance , investments , international banking,  payments and remittances.

(b) Wholesale Banking: aimed to providing trade finance, cash management, securities services, foreign exchange and risk management, capital raising and corporate finance solutions to clients.

(c) SME Banking: aimed to meet the requirements of small and medium enterprises covering cash management, foreign exchange services, trade finance and working capital as well as loans and mortgages.

(d) Islamic Banking: aimed to provide Shariah—compliant banking products and services for the Islamic value conscious customer.

(e) Private Banking: aimed to meet unique wealth management requirements of clients based on personal packages.
