Seven different graduate schemes are currently offered by RSM Tenon: Audit, Internal Audit, Tax, Financial Management, Fraud Solutions, and Information Systems Assurance.
Candidates who join the Audit graduate scheme will be given a three-year training contract in RSM Tenon’s External Audit department. If you decide to take this route, you will work as part of team which is responsible for auditing clients’ financial statements, pension schemes and grant claims. Furthermore, you may get the opportunity to get involved with other things, such as due diligence. Over the three years, you will gain valuable work experience and study for the ACA, ACCA and CA qualifications.
If you join the Internal Audit graduate scheme, your responsibilities will be very different to those of the trainees working in the External Audit department. For starters, you may find yourself working primarily with clients in the public sector. You will focus your attention on the analysis and evaluation of procedures, processes, governance systems and protocols; working alongside senior auditors on client sites, carrying out tests, conducting research and writing reports. As part of the graduate scheme, you will also study towards an Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) qualification or ACA.
As part of the Tax graduate scheme, you will help RSM Tenon provide its clients with a variety of tax compliance and consultancy services. The training process takes three years, and, by the end of it, you will have gained enough experience and passed enough exams to become a either Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) or ACA qualified. As you gain hands-on work experience, you will tackle a range of responsibilities, from preparing and filing tax returns to dealing with client queries.
If you join the Financial Management graduate scheme, you will train for two years to become a Chartered Financial Planner. You’ll gain valuable experience on-the-job and also study for a Certificate in Financial Planning in your first year and a Diploma in Financial Planning in your second year. You will be a valuable member of an expert team that advises clients on every aspect of financial planning, from pension schemes and investments to employee benefits and corporate financial planning.
Fraud Solutions is another specialist graduate scheme, which is all about conducting investigations into fraud, corruption and other finance-related crimes. The majority of graduates that apply for positions in the Fraud Solutions team have an academic background in law or criminology. Initially, your duties will focus on research, report writing and conducting tests. However, as you progress, you will begin to manage investigations by yourself. Within a year of starting your graduate scheme, you will have achieved a Specific Counter Fraud Accreditation (LCFS).
The Information Systems Assurance graduate scheme will allow you to specialise in a niche area of RSM Tenon’s Internal Audit function, namely the I.T. Audit department. Consequently, candidates will need a degree related to computer science. As part of your training and development, you will gain hands-on experience in a wide range of technical areas, which specifically focus on information protection and network security. After a year of practical experience on the frontline, you will also be encouraged to study towards a Certificate in Information Systems Assurance (CISA) qualification.
As well as gaining on-the-job experience, and working towards a professional qualification, every graduate will receive top-class in-house training through the RSM Training Academy, which consists of various structured training programmes; some of which are residential courses, some of which are short courses.
