Osborne Clarke is a law firm which started off in the eighteenth century and established itself as a regional firm, before it branched out in 1987, becoming the first regional firm to head to the city. The firm thereafter expanded outside the UK to become the pan European/international law practice it is today.

Still based in Bristol, the firm also has offices in London and the Thames Valley (Reading); Munich and Cologne in Germany; and Palo Alto in the US.

Apart from these, the firm has an international presence, set-up as the Osborne Clarke Alliance (OC Alliance) around 20 years ago. This is a partnership of seven European firms to cover multi-jurisdictional services for clients across the world, operating out of 17 offices—16 in Europe and one in the US—providing business law expertise in the main.

The other member-partners of the OC Alliance are based in Brussels, Paris, Milan, Rome, Padua, Brescia, Barcelona, Madrid and Rotterdam.
