The company is under the joint ownership of Kellogg Brown and Root (KBR) (55% stake) and JGC Corporation, Japan (45% stake). KBR is among the world’s largest construction and engineering groups, while JGC is among the top industrial contractors in the world.
M W Kellogg was established in 1939 and is at present a private limited company. The company’s headquarters are located in Greenford and employees work on engineering and construction projects across the world.
The Graduate Training scheme at M W Kellogg is an accredited programme of two years’ duration, in which graduate trainees rotate through different departments and business divisions.
Activities include working on ‘live’ projects as well as formal internal & external training in technical and business disciplines leading to ‘chartered’ status within the relevant profession and membership of professional bodies such as the institutes of mechanical, chemical and civil engineering.
Internships & Placements
The company offers a Design Trainee programme for students who’ve completed school or have vocational qualifications in two variants—Piping and Instrumental Design and Electrical Design. Based on the existing level of educational qualifications, the company sponsors college education on a part or full-time basis.
Trainees are assigned a mentor who is responsible for providing support, guidance and help in charting out a relevant career path. All trainees spend the first few weeks undergoing an orientation at the main office in Greenford, before starting studies at college. Trainees also undertake hands-on work experience, apart from formal study in the respective departments.
Piping and Instrumental Design Trainees study for a B.Tech course in Process Plant Engineering at Richmond-upon-Thames College on a day-release or full-time basis. They also complete a Basic Technician Training certificate during this period.
Electrical Design Trainees study for the B.Tech course in Electrical/Electronic Engineering along with a Basic Technologies Training certificate.

Salary & Benefits
Graduates start at a salary £25,000 upwards, reviewed regularly. The company also provides an attractive benefits package in addition to flexible work arrangements and an active sports and social club with activities arranged throughout the year.
The company takes on around 20–25 graduate trainees on an annual basis, with a start date of September. The standard graduate profile is primarily engineers from the following disciplines—mechanical, chemical, civil, structural, HSE, electrical/electronic, construction, general, and instrumentation/control.
Other categories of graduates hired into business and operational units should hold degrees in Logistics, Purchasing, Computer Science, Business Studies and Information Technology.
Design Trainees: Students with high grades in Maths and Science at GCSE, A-levels, AS levels, part or full BTEC certificates.
