The two year training contract is a mix of hands-on work experience across four seats of six months’ duration, based on trainee preference from a list of 24 practice areas in the London office; client secondments or overseas placements at one of Mayer Brown’s offices in New York, Hong Kong, Brussels or Sao Paolo.
Seat preferences can be amended as the training contract progresses, based on experience and training gained up to that point.
Formal training is comprised of the PSC and in-house modules based on practice areas and departments and all trainees undergo formal performance reviews during the middle and end of every seat. Trainees are also required to complete the LPC with Nottingham Law at Kaplan Law School, which provides a bespoke course along with an extra module on introductory US law.
