Lazard is a premier, global financial consulting and asset management firm with a presence in 41 cities across 26 countries, spread over five continents—Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and South and Central America. The firm has a total workforce of around 2,292 employees with main offices in New York, London and Paris.

Lazard was established in 1848 in New Orleans by the Lazard brothers as Lazard Frères trading dry goods. The business moved to San Francisco and began trading imported dry goods and exporting gold bullion. The firm eventually moved into providing financial services for retail and then commercial clients.

A House of Lazard was opened in Paris in 1852, followed by another in London, in 1870, each operating as a separate business. The three Houses were merged in 2000 to form Lazard LLC (Lazard’s UK operations are registered as Lazard Limited).
