The Government Legal Service or GLS as it is more popularly referred to, is a team of about 2,000 lawyers employed by the Government under the rules of Civil Service recruitment, attached with various government departments, regulatory bodies and governmental organisations.
The GLS is a unique legal practice in the sense that it has only one client—the Government; and the scope of work done by GLS lawyers range from domestic, public and administrative law, to European Union (EU) laws, international human rights and domestic legislation expertise.
