Profile
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (FBD) is the fruit of a merger between Freshfields, an old and established UK firm, and two German firms—Bruckhaus from Hamburg and Deringer from Stuttgart. It is one of the largest law firms (third largest in revenue) with offices in 26 cities and 15 countries across the US, Europe and Asia.
Part of the esteemed ‘magic circle’ in the UK; FBD employs over 5600 people with over 2000 fee earners. Freshfields’ history in the UK goes all the way back to 1743, and one of its first clients was the Bank of England.
With a hand in nearly every deal worth multibillion pounds, FBD’s client list is a veritable who’s who of business giants across many sectors and geographies. Some of them are ABN Amro, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, Barclays, Goldman Sachs, HP, Tesco, Siemens, Sony ITV, Formula One, Bank of England, Deutsche Bank, LSE, ICI, Zurich Financial Services, and so on.
