An introduction to the recruitment industry…
Recruitment is a pretty different kind of sales job. Rather than selling products or services, you are essentially selling people. Sure, you’re not literally selling people like you would sell a box of cookies, but your responsibilities will resemble a lot of the standard sales tasks.
For instance, you might be making new business calls, delivering client presentations and using your communication skills and effortless charm to devastating effect.
How does recruiting work?
Essentially, you’ll be acting as an intermediary between companies and talented individuals. It’s all about finding the best candidates for certain jobs and selling them into companies that demand their specific skills.
Recruitment is a much more challenging kind of sales. It’s likely that you will experience both highs and lows throughout your career. The highs will come from earning extra commission and lucrative bonuses. The lows will come when deals fall out because people change their minds or get better offers from other companies.
